The purpose of the present study was to investigate the clinical effect of dentifrices containing several therapeutic agents on dental plaque and gingival health. The therapeutic agents such as triclosan, Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi. Taraxacum
platycarpum H. Dahlstedt and konicera japonica Thunb were included in the silicon dioxide or sodium monofluorophosphate-based dentifrice. Two weeks before the experiment, scaling was performed on all the subjects and then the control and test
dentifrices were supplied The plaque and gingival indices were examined three times; at days of 0, 30, and 90 for the subjects who used the dentifrice containing sodium chloride, Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi Tarexacum platycarpum H. Dahlstedt
and
Konicera japonica Thunb. For the subjects who used dentifrice containing triclosan, Taraxacum platycarpum H. Dahlstedt, and Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi, plaque and giniival indices we4re examined at days of 14 and 28.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1. A significant reduction in plaque index was oberved in the subjects using the dentifrice contasining sodium chloride, Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi, Tarexacum platycarpum H. Dahlstedt and Konicera japonica Thunb.
2. A significant reduction in gingival index was oberved in the subjects using the dentifrice containing sodium chloride, Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi, Taraxacum platycarpum H. Dahlstedt and Konicera Japonica Thunb.
3. A significant reduction in plaque index was examined when the dentifrice containing triclosan, Taraxacum platycrpum H. Dahlstedt Scutellaria baicalensis Georbgi was used.
4. A significant reduction in ginival index was examined when the dentifrice containing triclosan, Taraxacum platycarpum H. Dahlstedt Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi was used.
5. Triclosan, Taraxacum platycarpum H. Dahlstedt and Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi incladecl in the dentifrice recluced plague and gingival by 4.71% and 50.08%, respectively, 2weeks after the experiment began.
